Jericho Mountain State Park ATV Trails
The Jericho Mountain ATV Trails are located in a New Hampshire State Park (Jericho Mountain). The public park offers 90-miles of interconnected trail riding for ATVs, UTV’s, trail bikes, and snowmobiles. The Jericho Mountain network links to the Ride the Wilds trail system which is the largest ATV trail system in the northeastern USA.
All of the towns within the Ride the Wilds system allow ATVs on designated sections of public roads. Riders can park their trucks and trailers upon arrival, and not need them again until the ride home. On the Jericho Mountain trail system, riders cruise on ATVs between the towns of Berlin and Gorham to access food, gas, lodgings, events, entertainment, and different sections of the trail.
The State of New Hampshire partners with the Androscoggin Valley ATV Club, and surrounding towns, to keep the network well-maintained. To utilize the trails, riders must register their off highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) and observe the riding rules for on- and off-highway use. Jericho Mountain State park trail maps can be purchased in town from many locations, or downloaded.
Area Overview: Berlin and Gorham (Coos County)
Berlin, New Hampshire
Berlin is located on the Androscoggin River in the Great North Woods region. Berlin is NH’s northernmost city. It was once a thriving paper mill town. Today, the city is a supporter of the OHRV community. The city hosts several festivals throughout the year catering to riders. You can access trails from several locations in Berlin.
Gorham, New Hampshire
Gorham lies about 6-miles south of Berlin. The small town has a village-like atmosphere. Tourism is the town’s major industry. In Gorham you will find an assortment of charming vintage shops, locally owned restaurants, pubs, a train museum, and golf course. The majority of lodging and dining options are located in Gorham. You can access trails from several locations in Gorham.
When to Visit
New Hampshire is a four-season New England travel destination. In the winter, snowmobiles take the place of ATVs in Jericho Mountain State Park. In mud season (generally April and May), the trails are closed so as to not damage the trail network.
The best time to 4-wheel in Jericho State Park is June through October.

How to Get There and Get Around
Jericho Mountain State Park is located about 4-hours north of Boston, or 2.5-hours north of Concord, New Hampshire. The route to the park consists of Interstate and secondary rural routes. A personal vehicle is needed to best enjoy the area.
If you are trailering an ATV, most lodgings have free oversized parking lots on (or nearby) the premises. Check before making a reservation.
Free and downloadable maps of the ATV trails at Jericho Mountain Tract and Head Pond Tract are available at NH State Parks.
There are a number of ATV rental shops throughout the region offering competitive prices. Most rental shops will offer free maps, helmets, and pick-up service should your ATV break down. Check out:

Northeast ATV/Side by Side Rental: 177 Main Street, Gorham NH
Jericho Outdoors: 232 Jericho Road, Berlin NH

New Hampshire weather is changeable. Dress in layers and watch the forecast. Bring helmets, gloves, eye protection, and sunscreen. The trail can get dusty and riding shirts are advisable. Food, drink, and facilities are sparse on the trail. Pack water, snacks, wet wipes, first aid/emergency kit, and a bag for waste/trash.

Points of Interest on the Trail
Itinerary Day 1
Begin the day by driving your ATV to a restaurant close to your hotel for breakfast. Next, find the nearest entrance to the Jericho Mountain Tract. This will like be near Jericho Outdoors in Berlin, or the Rt. 16 trail entrance by the 443 Main St. OHRV lot in Gorham. If needed, there is parking available at both locations.
Spend the day exploring the 80-miles of trails in the Jericho Mountain Tract. In the territory, there are three black diamond (most-difficult) trails, and many less difficult trails with stunning forested landscapes and scenic vistas. Many riders enjoy stops at the Jericho Mountain windmills, the lake at the Jericho Mountain State Park camp ground, and the warming hut by White Mill Ridge.
Itinerary Day 2
After breakfast make your way to the Head Pond Tract of trails (across from Jericho Outdoors). The trail network is smaller than yesterday’s tract. When you are finished, head back to the Jericho Mountain Tract to finish any trails missed on Day 1. Or, utilize the city trail that runs between Berlin and Gorham and explore these North Country towns by ATV. If you have any time left, head for the lake at Jericho Mountain State Park (fee). Onsite there is a sandy beach, swimming, kayak rental, picnic grounds, hiking trails, a store, and bathrooms.
Don’t get too dusty out on the trails, Laura and Randy
